James Patterson is an excellent author and I have enjoyed many of his books. However, The Midnight Club is not one of them. I have enjoyed all the Alex Cross books and most of The Women’s Murder Club series. I typically enjoy Patterson’s books because of the hunt, excitement and drama involved in each case.

I enjoy that the characters are fully developed and I have followed the main characters throughout several books. The Midnight Club seems to lack the excitement I am accustom to with Alex Cross and his adventures. There is also so many characters and each one gets washed out because of so many characters to describe and keep up with throughout the story.

I did like the main character – the officer – because he is the only character that I felt was developed. He was a believable officer with somewhat believable disabilities. The love interest was a boring, divorced woman who had more involvement in the murder investigations than I thought believable.

All in all, it was an easy read but lacked the excitement I like when reading a James Patterson book.
